Thank god January is over.
Hi, cuties!
I don’t know about you but I am so glad that it's February. Now that it’s over, I can say that January was a sh*t show. Okay, it wasn’t all horrible but I worked too much, I didn’t take care of myself as much as I needed to, and the winter blues were in full effect. Part of me is disappointed because I usually love the start of a new year. I always do Dry January and that always helps me to get into a positive headspace to start a new year. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t been drinking as much that this Dry January didn’t have that much of a positive effect on my physical and mental health, but it just didn't hit the same as it usually does.
Thankfully February is off to a great start. I decided to do a low-spend challenge this month. I’ve never done one before so I thought it would be a fun, challenging and interesting experience. I also thought that it would help reset my spending habits and allow me to reflect on what’s truly essential for my quality of life and what I can scale back on. It’s February 8th and so far I haven’t spent money on anything non-essential this month.
Something great that did happen in January is that Mitzi and I officially launched our new book podcast, Easy Reads. If you haven’t listened to our intro episode yet, now’s your chance! Our February book pick is Never by Jessa Hastings if you’d like to read long before our next episode coming live on February 29th. It’s a dream come true to launch this podcast. Everyone has been so nice and encouraging too so thank you <3
ANOTHER great thing that happened in January was that Mac and I celebrated our 5-year anniversary with a weekend away in Banff. I vlogged it so if you’re curious, you can see what we got up to here. It was a lovely weekend. We went cross-country skiing, enjoyed the roof top hot tub and hit up a lot of great restaurants.
All for now,
Mel
